Manila Water announces desludging schedule for February

MANILA - Manila Water Company (Manila Water) on Thursday announced its desludging schedule for this month as it encouraged its customers in the East Zone of Metro Manila and Rizal province to avail of the services to prevent clogging and overflowing of their septic vaults. The water and wastewater company also reminded its customers to coordinate with their respective barangay offices on the exact schedule of its free desludging services. "We cannot overemphasize the importance of desludging in protecting our environment as well as promoting sanitation within the homes. Regular desludging would prevent clogging of septic vaults that may cause overflow and contaminate groundwater," Manila Water Communication Affairs Group director Jeric Sevilla said in a statement on Thursday. Sevilla underscored the importance of customers' cooperation and advised them to avail of the service if their barangay is scheduled for desludging since it is only done in a cycle of every five year

New P5 6-B aqueduct in Quezon City commissioned

MANILA - The Manila Water Company (Manila Water) on Friday commissioned the PHP5.6-billion Novaliches-Balara Aqueduct 4 (NBAQ4) in Quezon City which will help ensure continuous water supply for over 7 million customers in the East Zone. In a statement, Manila Water said the new aqueduct, which will convey up to 1,000 million liters of water per day (MLD), will pave the way for the inspection, assessment and subsequent rehabilitation of three other existing aqueducts, which have been operating since 1929, 1956 and 1968, respectively. The NBAQ4 project involves the construction of a new intake facility and access bridge at the La Mesa reservoir, a 7.3-kilometer underground aqueduct with a 3.1-meter diameter passing under Commonwealth Avenue, and an outlet portal and downstream distribution works at the Balara treatment plant. MANILA - The Manila Water Company (Manila Water) on Wednesday announced service interruptions due to its improvement activities in some parts of Mandaluyong City and Quezon City on Jan. 26, 27, 31 and Feb. 1. In its advisory, Manila Water said the affected areas from 10 p.m. of Jan. 26 to 4 a.m. of Jan. 27 are parts of Barangays Daang Bakal (Haig, Gen. Kalentong, Romualdez), specifically in Haig corner New Panaderos Extension; and Harapin ang Bukas (Gen. Kalentong, New Panaderos Extension), particularly in New Panaderos Extension corner Neptali Gonzales, both in Mandaluyong City, for line meter and declogging. From 10 p.m. of Jan. 31 to 4 a.m. of Feb. 1, the affected areas are parts of barangays Teachers Village East, Sikatuna Village, UP Village and San Vicente, all in Quezon City, particularly along Malaya corner Maginhawa Street for line maintenance. MANILA-The Manila Water Company (Manila Water) on Friday announced a water interruption due to its service improvement activities in several parts of Quezon City from Jan. 24-25. In its advisory, Manila Water said the affected areas from 10 p.m. of Jan. 24 to 4 a.m. of Jan. 25 are parts of Barangay Tandang Sora, specifically along Banlat Road corner Datuin Street and corner Himlayan Street, and along Tandang Sora Avenue corner St. Martin Street for line maintenance. Also affected are parts of Barangay Culiat, particularly along Visayas Avenue corner Ledesma Street for line maintenance. The water company advised residents in the affected areas to store enough water to supply their needs during the service improvement activities. It also reminded the affected customers that once water service is restored, conduct flushing by letting the water flow out for a few minutes until it becomes clear.
