Mangilao honors suffering of WWII victims
By Jackson Stephens
A “Hasso Mangilao” or “Remember Mangilao” ceremony to remember the suffering of victims forced to march to Manenggon and the persevering strength of the CHamoru people was held in front of the Mangilao Memorial at the mayor’s office Monday.
An opening invocation was led by Father Joseph English from Santa Teresita Catholic Church. The ceremony was a part of commemorating Guam’s 77th World War II Liberation.
“I am just so happy that we are alive and witnesses and attended this occasion,” said war survivor Derri Paulino, who was 4 years old during her time in Manenggon.
