Byron Bay s airport will be introducing strict new Covid protocols to protect the local community as holidaymakers from Sydney make their way into the popular coastal town.
The airport, which is half an hour drive away in Ballina, northern NSW, has been given the seal of approval by Hollywood heavyweights like Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Zac Efron who have all been pictured on the stunning coastline recently.
But Ballina Shire Council are cracking down on passengers who are travelling from Covid-affected Sydney and they will be screened by NSW Health officials upon arrival.

Due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak in the Greater Sydney area, Ballina Byron Gateway Airport wishes to assure all travellers and the general public that stringent measures are in place to protect community health.
In line with public health advice, all passengers travelling from Sydney are being screened by NSW Health officials upon their arrival at Ballina Byron Gateway Airport.
Airport Manager Julie Stewart said the Ballina Byron Gateway Airport is committed to working with the NSW Government to maintain a safe and secure facility that provides important transport links for the region.

Ballina Shire Council confirmed all passengers travelling from Sydney are being screened by NSW Health officials upon their arrival at Ballina Byron Gateway Airport.
At the moment, all flights continue to operate as scheduled but passengers are encouraged to check the airline partner website.
