“We should all follow his example of commitment to others,” UND President Andrew Armacost said. Sen. Kevin Cramer says Strinden was a "political legend" and a "born leader."
Invited guests chatted over food and champagne, and more than a little beer, before gathering before a small stage backgrounded by a large screen that captured the evening’s speakers. Those speakers included REA General Manager Jody Hodgson, who emceed the event, UND President Andrew Armacost, Mayor Brandon Bochenski, UND Athletic Director Bill Chaves, hockey Head Coach Brad Berry and Kris Engelstad McGarry, trustee of the Engelstad Foundation.

The city of Grand Forks will chip in $100,000 dollars to help support the NCHC
Frozen Faceoff tournament at the Ralph Englestad Arena. The money is part of a “Festival Fund” created in 2015 to drive economic growth in the city. There is around $269,000 dollars in the Economic Development budget.
REA General Manager Jody Hodgson told council members last night the money – along with a $25,000 dollar commitment from the C-V-B – was key in landing the event.
Hodgson says attendance will remain capped at 3,000 fans. “The biggest benefactors from a commercial standpoint will be hotels…restaurants…and bars. We are trying to get some of that going. We have also been very collaborative with Altru and public health – we are not throwing the doors open.”
