Venture capitalist David Martirano '91 makes multi-purpose $500,000 gift to URI – URI News

David Martirano ’91, a partner at a Boston-based venture capital firm, has made a gift of $500,000 for financial aid and athletics at the University of Rhode Island. Half of the gift will create scholarships in the College of Business, and the other half will help to fund a basketball practice facility for the men’s and women’s Division I teams. Newport stabbing: URI mourns the death of student over the weekend

Daily News staff KINGSTON - The University of Rhode Island published a statement Wednesday mourning the death of one of their students who was killed over the weekend at a party in Newport.  Maximus Julian, 22, of Little Compton, was a Dean’s List student in its College of Business, and was scheduled to graduate from URI in the fall of 2021. The University has offered its condolences and support to Maximus’ family and friends. “We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of one of our business students. Maximus was a wonderful person who excelled in his studies here in the College of Business. This is a terrible loss for our college and for our community. We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and are here for any student requiring grief resources,” says Dr. Maling Ebrahimpour, dean of the College of Business.
