PPP leader calls for joint session of parliament - Newspaper

TAXILA: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretary General Nayyar Hussain Bukhari on Tuesday called for holding a joint session of parliament to evolve a sustainable policy and strategy to tackle the rapidly emerging geo-strategic situation in the region in the wake of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. He was talking to newsmen after offering condolence with the family of former member Punjab assembly and PPP leader Malik Shahan Hakmeen Khan over his death in Shakardara, Attock. The PPP senator said the changing geo-strategic situation around Pakistan’s western border needed immediate strategy to meet the challenges. He said all stakeholders have to play their role in the changing scenario as no peace could be achieved without peace in Afghanistan.

Ex-MPA s alleged killer arrested - Newspaper

TAXILA: The Attock police on Thursday claimed to have arrested assassin of former member Punjab Assembly from Attock and PPP leader Malik Shahan Hakmeen Khan and recovered murder weapon. The suspect Malik Sherdil Hakmeen Khan is the son of the deceased’s stepbrother. The suspect confessed to having killed Mr Shahan over a property dispute. According to the FIR lodged by the mother of the deceased and widow of founder PPP leader Malik Hakmeen Khan, there was a property dispute between Shahan and his stepbrother Asif and they were in litigation in various courts. She said a few days ago, Asif came to their house and asked Shahan to withdraw cases failing which he warned of dire consequences and on Thursday his son killed him.
