A FIREFIGHTER has made it onto the Queen’s prestigious New Year’s honours list for the brilliant work he’s done in his community.
Martin Cable, Maldon Watch Manager of Essex Fire and Rescue Service is now a Medallist of the Order of the British Empire (BEM).
The 63-year-old has had a long and fruitful career with the service, celebrating his 40-year anniversary in 2016.
Martin said it was a great honour and a total surprise to learn he had been nominated.
He said: “It has been a great privilege to serve my local community for all these years and I feel really privileged to have been recognised in this way. ....
