Home Ministry: Enforcement of travel SOPs to be intensified, stringent checks on public transportation ahead of Raya

PETALING JAYA: Every agency and department under the Home Ministry has been ordered to beef up enforcement across all public transportation platforms to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The Home Ministry said more roadblocks will be conducted and officers will strictly monitor public movement to prevent individuals from travelling across states and borders using public transport such as KTM Komuter, LRT, MRT, ERL, KL Monorail and even e-hailing rides.
All of the government agencies and departments concerned are the police, the Immigration Department, the Prisons Department, the Malaysia Volunteer Corps (Rela), the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom), the national anti-drugs agency (AADK) and the Malaysian border security agency (Aksem). ....

Low-risk Covid-19 centre set up in Penang ahead of mandatory screenings for foreign workers


GEORGE TOWN: A low-risk Covid-19 centre (LRCC) has been set up in Penang in preparation for mandatory screening for registered foreign workers in the state from Jan 1.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the LRCC is currently the largest center in Penang with a capacity of up to 432 beds and will be used to manage low-risk Covid-19 patients.
The facility has been fully operational since Dec 22 and the patients in the center were managed around the clock by assistant medical officers and doctors.
They will also be reviewed by an Internal Medicine Physician in consultation with Infectious Disease Consultants. Patients requiring step-up care will be transferred to Hospital Pulau Pinang, he said in his Facebook post. ....
