Our Correspondent Imphal, May 27 (EMN): Mao civil organisations led by Mao MLA and former minister, Losü Dikho on Thursday met Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and declared their solidarity and support to the Manipur government’s War on Drugs campaign to eradicate drug menace in the state. Expressing gratitude to the huge public support for the War on Drugs mission, the chief minister, accompanied by Minister Letpao Haokip, MLA Dikho, former MLA Alexander Pau and civil leaders said that it is a positive sign for the whole state and not just for the War on Drugs mission. We can feel an emotional attachment, oneness among the people of the state irrespective of community, he added and expressed his happiness to receive voluntary support from Mao Council and others against poppy plantation, illegal drug business and drug abuse. The Mao Council of Senapati district in Manipur on Thursday resolved to ban any form of illegal drugs within the jurisdiction of Mao and impose a penalty to defaulters a sum of Rs 1 lakh.
Four youths belonging to the Mao community were physically assaulted allegedly by a group that spoke Maram dialect when they were shopping at Maram Bazaar around 7.30 pm, according to police.
