Moravian Pottery & Tile Works deal: Bucks County OKs deal with artist nonprofit to run landmark

Ceramic artist Katia McGuirk won the right to run the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works for the next 30 years as the Bucks County Commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday to offer her nonprofit the contract for supervision of the famed tile factory in Doylestown.
The commissioners voted for the contract without asking any questions of McGuirk, after she made a presentation showing the ceramic murals and other artistic endeavors she has created as well as lists of her board of directors and other officials involved in the new nonprofit, The Tile Works of Bucks County.
Bucks County Controller Neale Dougherty will be the county representative on the board, which county Commissioner Chairwoman Diane Ellis-Marseglia described later as a smart move. ....

Chalfont Habitat ReStore is relocating to Warminster and doubling its size to become one of the largest in the country, store officials announced Monday.
The store, run by Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County, will be moving its offices and relocating to 539 Jacksonville Road in Warminster. A grand opening for the new 40,000-square-foot store is slated for early summer 2021.
The Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used building materials, appliances, furniture, and home accessories at a fraction of the retail price. Habitat ReStores help build homes and communities locally and around the world by raising money to support the mission of Habitat for Humanity and diverting tons of reusable materials from landfills. There are over 900 restores across the country. ....
