There have been socialist candidates in the past predict Norman Thomas but they were never in the mainstream for now, infected a time when many of the socialisms had collapsed at the end of the 20th century suddenly its back in his back with a vengeance. So my surprise theres a lot of books that try to take stock of it. By and large its going to be the history, the idea the socialism has never worked before. So is that it didnt work before so its not going to work now. History kind of argument. Lot of these books have been published about socialism in response to what has changed over the last five years and they all have a little bit of a different take on it and emphasize different points so my obvious question is, why the United States and socialism and why did you write this book . And of course the start of todays performance is the author of that great new book, scholar of contemporary asia he is distinguished fellow here at hoover pretties also a great friend, mishas really wonderful for us to be with you and sold by this tremendously book. The book is asias new geopolitics. The book is an important book at an important time about the reshaping that is going on across the indo pacific region. Michael is also the author of another tremendous book right behind here, called the end of the age of the century. Michael is one of the most prolific analysts on what is going on the region.
