Asiwaju of Igbajo, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, on Monday announced the passage of Oba Olufemi Fashade, whose death reportedly occurred last Thursday.
The PUNCH had since Friday reported the passage of the 81-year-old monarch after he failed to recover from an undisclosed illness.
Oba Fashade, a retired Major of the Nigerian Army, who was appointed in 1990 by the then Oyo State Government, emerged the first secretary of Osun State Council of Obas, upon the creation of Osun State in 1991.
Officially announcing the passage of the royal father at a press conference in Osogbo, Chief Awomolo, who was flanked by members of Owa in Council, said rites of passage had already commenced for the departed monarch. ....

Daily Trust - Fake army major arrested in Nasarawa State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command has arrested a fake army major.
The suspect, Amos John Ewuga, was arrested over alleged impersonation as army Major, fraud and job racketeering.
Spokesperson of the Corps, Sirajo Idris said, ” The 46 years old suspect was arrested after a tipoff from members of the public who lodged complaints with the Command.
“Following series of complaints, the Corps mounted surveillance and arrested him along Akwanga-Keffi-Abuja road in a tinted Army colour Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number RBC 398 JM.
“Ewuga, who hailed from Nasarawa Eggon Local Government of Nasarawa State has been impersonating as a Major of the Nigerian Army. ....
