Clive Police Release Identities of Teens Killed in Monday Morning Crash

By Dave Bohl Jan 12, 2021 (Clive, Iowa) Clive Police are releasing the names of three teenagers killed in a high-speed police chase Monday morning. 16 year-old Emmanuel Nyariel, 14 year-old Zacharia Warsame, and 14 year-old Majok Nyariel were killed in the crash. 15 year-old Hamid Lula and 13 year-old Mohamed Elzubeir were also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Both remain hospitalized with serious, life-threatening injuries. Police say the chase started after an Urbandale resident reported the group of teens to police a little before 2am. Police identified their vehicle as a car reported stolen last week. Officers chased the teens at speeds reaching over 100 miles-per-hour through Urbandale and into Clive.

Emmanuel Nyariel, 16, Majok Nyariel, 14, and Zacharia Warsame, 14, were killed, and two other teens were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from Clive police.  All of the occupants were students of Des Moines Public Schools. According to the district, Emmanuel Nyariel attended Hoover High School, Warsame went to Roosevelt High School and Majok Nyariel attended Callanan Middle School.
