Capital market participants to continue operating with SOPs during total lockdown


KUALA LUMPUR (May 31): The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) affirms that the capital market will continue to remain open and operate as usual within normal business hours throughout the total lockdown period, starting from tomorrow (June 1).
As essential service providers, capital market participants (CMPs) can continue to undertake and provide capital market activities and services. These entities include the approved exchanges, licensed entities (CMSL holders), registered persons, Audit Oversight Board registered auditors, self-regulatory organisations, recognised market operators (RMOs) and other capital market related entities, said SC in a statement. 
To support the government’s efforts to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission during this critical lockdown period, SC said CMPs are required to minimise their workforce capacity in the office. COVID-19 cases in Malaysia have been surging past the 2,000 mark for 13 consecutive days now, with
2,733 confirmed cases recorded today, 27th April 2021. To step up the fight against the pandemic, the
Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) has been extended in 5 states – KL, Selangor, Penang, Johor, and Sarawak – with Sabah also now under the CMCO. 
The CMCO in these states was slated to end on 28th April, but will now restart on 29th April for another 2 weeks, and end on 17th May.  ....
