Elk Grove, legislators push for new rules to make annexations easier
 
A two-year annexation dispute between George Gullo Development Corp. and Elk Grove Village was the impetus for state legislation that would make it easier for municipalities to acquire unincorporated properties.

State Sen. Laura Murphy, a Des Plaines Democrat, has advanced legislation through the state Senate that would make it easier for towns to annex properties. It follows a bitter annexation dispute involving Elk Grove Village and a local developer.
