Manyokole arrested, charged with money laundering, corruption Manyokole arrested, charged with money laundering, corruption Share Mohalenyane Phakela DIRECTORATE of Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO) Director General, Mahlomola Manyokole, was on Thursday arrested and charged with money laundering, corruption and abuse of power. He appeared before Maseru Magistrate Teboho Thoso who released him on free bail the same day. Magistrate Thoso also ordered Adv Manyokole to reappear before him on 4 March 2021 for the setting of the trial date. Adv Manyokole’s arrest and court appearance followed the issuance of a warrant for his arrest on Wednesday by Senior Resident Magistrate Peter Murenzi. ....
DCEO principal prosecutor Baasi suspended Pascalinah Kabi THE director general of the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO), Advocate Mahlomola Manyokole, has suspended the anti-graft body’s principal anti-corruption prosecutor, Adv Mamongonyo Baasi. He suspended her for what he said was gross misconduct in connection with the acquittal of former Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) boss, Tšeliso ‘Mokela and six former LCA board members. The six are Lefa Mokotjo, Monare Thulo, Paseka Khetsi, Bokang Lethunya, ‘Majankie Fako and ‘Mamofuta Kale. The accused were charged with defrauding the LCA of about M785 279 during the 2017/18 financial year. This after the former LCA board members allegedly illegally approved a bonus of M785 279 for Mr ‘Mokela. ....

Former LCA board members acquitted MASERU-MAGISTRATE Phethise Motanyane has acquitted seven former board members of the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) who were facing charges of fraud and abuse of office. This was after the prosecution failed to produce the docket for the trial to proceed against former LCA boss Tšeliso ’Mokela and the former board members who are Lefa Mokotjo, Monare Thulo, Paseka Khetsi, Bokang Lethunya, ’Majankie Fako and ’Mamofuta Kale. Prosecutor ’Mamorongoe Baasi told the court that the dockets were being held by a private prosecutor. Advocate Baasi said Private Investigator Pitso has been holding on to the docket since September 28, 2020, when the last former directors were added to the list of suspects. ....
