LOWER MERION â Historic West Laurel Hill Cemetery, established as a profoundly different kind of burial place â a rural cemetery of distinct beauty and horticultural interest, announces yet another milestone with the official groundbreaking of its expansion to its first Jewish section of the cemetery. Construction for this new area â Makom Shalom, A Place of Peace â recently got underway.
With this new burial section, West Laurel Hill will continue their commitment to honor Jewish traditions.

When Lower Merion senior Vikas Miller captured the PIAA 3A boysâ tennis state singles title at the Hershey Racquet Club May 29, he was most impressed by the Acesâ fan support.
âWhat I will remember most about the final match is all the people that came out to support us â it was an amazing experience competing for the state singles title while [Lower Merionâs] Brian and Justin Yi competed for the state doubles title on the court next to me,â said Miller. âThe energy in the building was amazing and. I could feel how locked in we all were. It was great to be able to contribute the state singles title to our teamâs amazing year.â
