Gilpatrick Solar Project receives final approval
ELLSWORTH A fourth solar farm has been given the green light in Ellsworth after the Planning Board gave final and unanimous approval to the Gilpatrick Solar Project on Feb. 2.
The 3.5-megawatt, 19.81-acre ground-mounted solar array will be sited on a 127-acre parcel and connect to three-phase power utility lines on Gilpatrick Road, which is off Bangor Road and located in the rural and urban zones.
Access roads will be built to the array site, which will be hidden from view from Bangor Road and nearby neighborhoods, according to Dale Knapp and Chris Byers, of Boyle Associates, who represented the application for Aypa Power. Aypa Power is a subsidiary of Blackstone Energy and headquartered in New York City.
