The Supreme Court today declined to look into the expulsion of Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra from the Lok Sabha, in a setback to the leader who faces cash-for-query allegations linked to businessman Darshan Hiranandani.
The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on Mahua Moitra s challenge against her Lok Sabha expulsion to January 3. Seeking urgent redress, Moitra deemed her expulsion "unfair, unjust, and arbitrary." Moitra was ousted from Parliament on December 8 following an Ethics Committee probe into cash for query allegations. Mahua Moitra expulsion: On Wednesday, Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned Moitra's petition before the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud seeking listing either Thursday or Friday.
