COVID-19: Maharashtra reports 63,282 new cases, 802 deaths in last 24 hours

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 1 (ANI): Maharashtra s fresh COVID-19 cases continue to rise as the state reported 63,282 new cases and 802 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra reported 63,282 new cases, 802 deaths and 61,326 discharges in the last 24 hours , as per the state health bulletin on Saturday.
The case fatality rate in the state is 1.49 per cent. With this, 46,65,754 total cases have been logged in the state including 6,63,758 active cases.
In this count, the capital Mumbai reported 3,908 new cases, 90 deaths and 5,900 recoveries. The active cases are at 59,318. However, for the second day, the city reported below 4,000 new COVID-19 cases.
Maharashtra on Friday reported 62,919 fresh COVID-19 cases and 828 deaths, said the state health department. The total caseload on Friday reached 46,02,472, while the total deaths rose to 68,813. ....

As many as 11,492 people over the age of 18 got their first dose of anti-coronavirus vaccination in 26 of 36 districts of Maharashtra on Saturday, the first day after it was opened up for all adults. The shots were administered in government facilities only.
According to the State Public Health Department, 132 vaccination sessions were arranged in 26 districts and 11,492 people were vaccinated till 6 p.m. on Saturday. ....

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has said that no vaccination against Covid-19 will be held in Mumbai for the next three days as the existing stock of doses has been exhausted. Currently those above 45 years of age are being inoculated. The vaccination drive for the 18-44 age group, which was supposed to start from May 1 earlier, was likely to be deferred too. Mr. Sawant added that even Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has said the vaccination process for this age group will not start on May 1 in his state due to lack of vaccines.
The Congress on Friday alleged that the vaccination of people from 18 to 44 age group is not taking off in Maharashtra from May 1 due to the “reckless approach” of the Centre.
Earlier this month, the Union government announced opening up vaccination for the entire adult population starting from May 1. However, the state government two days back said that the exercise cannot be launched on this date as vaccine doses were not available in sufficient quantity. ....

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 28 (ANI): The Maharashtra Government on Wednesday announced to provide free COVID-19 vaccination to all citizens aged between 18-44 years to combat the pandemic.
In a tweet, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Office (CMO), it informed, Today, the Cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has decided to provide free COVID-19 vaccination to all the citizens of Maharashtra aged between 18-44years. #BreakTheChain
Under phase three of the vaccination drive, everyone above 18 years of age will be eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19 from May 1, the Central government said on April 19.
