Earlier this week, Bunceton/Prairie Home posted a 12-point win against Calvary Lutheran.
The Lady Lions didn’t think they needed a complete overhaul of their game plan to be successful when the two teams met again Friday night. A couple of tweaks might do it.
They were the correct tweaks.
The Calvary Lutheran Lady Lions were having flashbacks to last year’s district tournament. Calvary opened the 2021-22 postseason against the Climax Springs Lady Cougars in a Class 1 District 8 contest, dropping an 87-51 decision. “They had a girl who shot all kinds of stuff on us in districts,” Calvary coach Ty Morris said. “She graduated, we thought we might get a little break.” Nope. The Lady Cougars hit their first three 3-point attempts Thursday night on their way to a 55-37 victory against the Lady Lions at Calvary Lutheran High School.
Another Calvary Lutheran athletic program has its first state trophy. The Lady Lions posted their first top-four finish Saturday, placing third in the team standings during the Class 1 girls cross country state championships at Gans Creek Course.
