Now, a second man has been identified and arrested in this incident: as his neighbor, 25-year-old Calbert Eugene Humes. Humes, a fisherman and construction worker who now claims to live in Hopkins Village, was once a resident of Mayflower Street. He appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Stephanie Gillett and was read a charge of abetment to commit murder. He stands accused of facilitating Kelly in his attempt to kill Valencia on January 26. No plea was taken and due to the nature of the charge, bail could not be offered. He now joins Kelly on remand at the Belize Central Prison until April 30 when they will both appear in court. ....

He explained that he had just visited his daughter near Wesley College in Belize City and was making his way to his home on Waight Street and had not noticed the time. Daniel Oliva 41-year-old Daniel Oliva, a stevedore of Faber’s Road, was arraigned before Magistrate Stephanie Gillett on Monday, December 21, 2020 when he was read two indictable charges. He was read the charges of dangerous harm and deadly means of harm with a machete, both upon his brother Kelly Oliva. The incident for which he is charged dates just a few days prior to December 18 when the accused reportedly inflicted a chop wound to his brother’s left hand. This reportedly took place while the accused was intoxicated and had gotten into a heated argument over CDs. Because of the severity of the chop wound, the doctor’s prognosis is that he might not be able to use his left hand again. On this ground, the prosecution objected to bail to which the magistrate agreed. Daniel Oliva was remanded to the Belize Central prison until February 15, 2021. ....
