A shooting that followed a dispute at a Phoenix hotel Sunday left one person dead and seven others injured, according to authorities.
Multiple people are believed by police to have opened fire amid a disagreement during the incident at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix in the Arizona city’s downtown area.
“We do believe this is an isolated incident and not a random act,” said Sgt. Maggie Cox of the Phoenix Police Department.
“There was definitely more than one shooter,” Cox continued. “After the argument, different people within that group began shooting at each other.”

One man was killed and seven other people injured in a shooting inside a downtown Phoenix hotel after an altercation early Sunday, police said.
Officers responded to a call about a shooting at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix hotel around 12:30 am.
Police said a verbal altercation between a group of people between the ages of 18 and 22 who all were attending a function inside the hotel escalated into shots being fired. We do believe this is an isolated incident and not a random act, police spokeswoman Sgt. Maggie Cox said, adding that detectives were still interviewing witnesses.

One man died and seven others were injured after a shooting broke out among a group arguing at a hotel in downtown Phoenix early Sunday, Phoenix police said.
Officers at about 12:25 a.m. responded to a shooting at a hotel near Second and Monroe streets where several people were reported to be shot, said Phoenix police spokesperson Sgt. Maggie Cox.
Police located eight victims inside the hotel and got them to safety, Cox said.
Seven of the eight victims, all between the ages of 18 and 22, were taken to a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, Cox said.
