The Department of Senior Programs and Services (DSPS) will be recognizing the month of May as Older Americans Month with the 53 rd Annual Salute to Seniors event. Salute to Seniors has been reimagined into four smaller, safer, outdoor events in northern, central and southern Westchester. The information and business expos will feature music as well as information on programs, services and products targeted at the senior community and their caregivers. Ridgefield middle school s Spirit Week raises $1,300 for local charities Alyssa Seidman FacebookTwitterEmail RIDGEFIELD The East Ridge Middle School student council recently sponsored its first Spirit Week. Over the course of five days, students competed against each other in a variety of challenges, including grade-level fundraisers in which students purchased bandannas that matched their class’ spirit color. The proceeds from those sales, as well as additional donations, raised more than $1,300 for three charities. The sixth grade’s contributions benefited the Danbury Animal Welfare Society, the seventh grade’s contributions benefited The Fragile X Foundation and the eight grade benefited Ridgefield Social Services. ....
County Executive George Latimer Instructs DSPS to Assist County’s Seniors Navigate Vaccine Appointment Process Written by Westchester County Westchester County Executive George Latimer has instructed the County’s Department of Seniors Programs & Services (DSPS) to use all available resources to help the County’s senior population navigate the vaccine appointment process. DSPS has an information and assistance phone line that is available to assist Westchester’s seniors on weekdays from 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m at 914-813-6300. Latimer said: “As we have been since day one of this crisis, County government has an all hands on deck approach to help Westchester through this unprecedented pandemic. DSPS stands ready and able to assist our aging population so they can feel comfortable navigating the vaccination process.” ....
