Flagler Palm Coast upperweight Garrick Schwartz was a champion and nine other Bulldog wrestlers placed at the Danny Byron Invitational Dec. 12 at Kissimmee Osceola.
Schwartz, who wrestles at 195, was 3-0 with three pinfalls in the tournament and earned the championship by defeating his wrestling room sparring partner in the round robin final. Dalton Schell placed second and had two wins before being pinned at the 1:47 mark of the head-to-head match by Schwartz.
Most of FPC’s wrestlers, including Schwartz and Schell, were entered in the Blue Division of the tournament, which attracted wrestlers from 19 schools, including five from Georgia. FPC also had three Gold and one entry in the White Division.
