Mother Klucker, a new ghost kitchen specializing in kao mun gai, the popular Southeast Asian poached chicken and rice dish, is now open for takeout and delivery service in Austin. Mother Klucker, located at the Cloud Kitchens facility at 5610 N. IH-35, is a collaboration from two restaurateur neighbors working in the ghost-kitchen arena: chef Char Chongchitmate of newly opened Thai eatery Charoen Express and Bua Vanitsthian, co-owner of Chicken as Cluck, a Nashville-style hot chicken concept. ....
Austin 360 Austin has no shortage of quality Thai takeout options. Charoen Express adds to the list. But, while you may eat food from the Thai restaurant, you’ll never eat at the restaurant. That’s because the new concept is a ghost kitchen, meaning the restaurant operates only in delivery and takeout capacities. The ghost kitchen, named after the Thai word for “prosperous,” comes from chef partner Char Chongchitmate, former chef at Thai Lada on Parmer Lane, one of my top 10 Thai restaurants in town. Founded by siblings and Michoacán natives Gabby and Arturo Bucio, Gabriela’s Downtown opened in early 2018 and has since garnered a great deal of social media attention for its DJ-scored brunches, house-made choriquesos, and hearty mole enchiladas (and who could forget their colorful array of alcoholic options including fruity margarita flights and chamoy-rimmed Modelos).
