The Aaron Payne Cup will roll into Mackay with a massive derby slated for BB Print Stadium, with three St Patrick’s players the key to the side’s formula in this tournament.

Amateur and professional mountain bike riders will have the opportunity to compete across the weekend at the Mackay and District Mountain Bike Classic.
Competitors will participate in races ranging from under eights to open-age events, with the course open for practice on Wednesday.
The two days will use different tracks, with Saturday’s course shorter but with greater inclines.
Mackay Regional Council Mayor Greg Williamson said the event was a great opportunity to increase the visibility of mountain biking and help the sports tourism industry.
“We can see the profitability in sports tourism,” Cr Williamson said.

A Mackay soccer club celebrated the grand opening of new facilities on Saturday with strong wins in its junior competitions.
City Brothers Football Club opened the facilities with Mackay MP Julieanne Gilbert.
Ms Gilbert said the facilities turned out better than expected.
âIt looks so shiny and beautiful, and more importantly, it will keep your club growing for another 40 years,â Gilbert said.
âWhen I met the committee at the start of the grant, they were so excited to get into the planning phase and theyâve done a fantastic job.â
The club received a $407,000 grant for the facilities in 2019, with a goal of completing the construction by mid-2021.

Mackay’s mountain bike enthusiasts will have the opportunity of competing this weekend as Fox Superflow racing returns to town.
Competitors of all ages are invited to test their skills across Friday and Saturday’s events, with 15 different races held across the two days.
Secondary school students will compete in the Rocky Trail Academy Schools event on Friday, followed by the open-age event on Saturday and Sunday.
The growth in popularity of mountain biking has driven the initiative to be brought to Mackay, with owner Juliane Wisata confirming the regional council is a big supporter of the event.
