Subscriber only When police interrupted a man hanging out with a teenage girl at a park, they uncovered a repugnant case of exploitation. It was October 12, 2019 and the man was on bail for prior offending. Mackay District Court heard his phone had four posed images of an intellectually-disabled 15-year-old girl including in her underwear, nude and another exposing her genitalia. Police also found four days of sexualised messages between the girl and a 24-year-old Mackay man. He pleaded guilty to using an electronic communication with an intent to procure a person under 16 in a sexual act and knowingly possessing child exploitation material.

Subscriber only A Pacific Islander faces deportation from Australia after a serious sex attack on a Whitsundays region island. The 30-year-old father-of-two, who cannot be named for risk of identifying his victim, stood in the dock as he faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Thursday. Judge Brad Farr said the offence was so grave it would automatically attract jail time. The court heard the man was drinking on the evening of March 21 when he became jealous of his female co-worker directing her attention towards another man. When [she] went back to her room, you walked back with her, despite the conversations that she didn t need you to do so, Judge Farr told him.
