Discussions have resumed to shape the future of Mackay Airport’s Milton Precinct that would expand freight potential to and from the region. Initial evaluations on the future use of land surrounding the precinct were put on hold last year because of COVID but have been revived as planning gets under way. A Mackay Airport spokeswoman said the Milton Precinct was put on hold but talks had “resumed re-evaluating a range of opportunities”. “Milton Precinct is part of the Mackay Airport’s overall vision to develop an airport that meet the needs of the region and its community,” the spokeswoman said.

It is the second time the project has been proposed after the first development approval lapsed.
