Much loved granddad dies while crossing A66 near Keswick


A MUCH loved dad and granddad died tragically when he was hit by a BMW crossing the A66 after a night out with friends.
That was the conclusion of coroner Kirsty Gomersal yesterday at an online Cockermouth court hearing on the death of James Greenwood, known as Jimmy.
Ms Gomersal recorded the cause of his death as a road traffic collision - he sustained multiple injuries which were described as “unsurvivable”.
She was speaking on the third anniversary of his death on April 7, 2018.
The 61-year-old divorcee, from Market Drayton, Shropshire, was returning to his campsite, at Braithwaite, near Keswick.
He and friends had been for a meal at the Ivy House Restaurant and then the Royal Oak pub in the village.  ....

Cheekwood to Debut Milestone Publication in March 2021
Exploring Its Historic Origins as a Private Estate and Its Role as a Present-day Landmark Destination.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – This March, Cheekwood will publish its first comprehensive book exploring its historic origins as a private estate and tracing its evolution to the beloved destination that it is today. The book is co-authored by Leslie B. Jones, Cheekwood’s former Vice President of Museum Affairs and Curator of Decorative Arts, and Shanna T. Jones, Cheekwood’s Plant Collections Manager, with forewords by Charles Birnbaum, President of the Cultural Landscape Foundation, and Ridley Wills, acclaimed local historian. The 128-page, hardcover book is richly illustrated with 135 photographs over its four chapters and is being published with Scala Arts & Heritage Publishers, made possible by the generosity of Katherine and Pete DeLay. ....
