the opportunity to stay home with my children after i have had children after i had twins. i stayed home taking care of them and had a really great time being the wife of the governor of texas first lady of our state. i ve had the opportunity to work on issues that i ve been interested in my whole life that had to do with education and reading and libraries. and i ve loved that. i think i ve actually had the opportunity to make a little bit of an impact. and i think that s been great. but i also think our country has benefited from the first ladies. always we have two very revered first ladies in our state my mother-in-law barbara bush and lady bird johnson, and i i know people know about barbara bush s work with literacy, and i think a lot of people remember how important lady bird johnson s work with the environment and the use of native plants is she was very active in the highway beautification act 1964. and in fact now that a lot of our roadsides in the united stat ....
