Lynchburg man sentenced for role in city shooting

A Lynchburg man pleaded guilty Monday to maliciously shooting at an occupied vehicle and a handful of drug possession charges in connection with a January 2023 shooting at The Timbers Apartments in the city that injured four people.

Parents suing school board chair, LCS superintendent

Seven parents of students at Sandusky Elementary School and T.C. Miller Elementary School for Innovation are suing Lynchburg City School Board Chair Atul Gupta and division Superintendent Crystal Edwards over the board’s Sept. 19 decision to close or convert both elementary schools.

Lynchburg man faces felony conviction for fleeing police

Wayne Leon Horsley, 47, was found guilty of two felony offenses of possession of a firearm by a convicted violent felon and eluding a police officer, and one misdemeanor charge of driving after forfeiture of license, according to a news release from the Lynchburg Commonwealth s Attorney s Office. His sentencing is set for Dec. 20.
