The Department of Health (DoH) on Friday said the case fatality rate in Metro Manila is almost 1.5% during the past two weeks, lower than the 5.36% reported by the OCTA Research Team on Wednesday.
Health Undersecretary Rosario S. Vergeire, in a virtual briefing, said, “As of April 15, our case fatality rate in NCR (National Capital Region) is 1.46%. We compute the case fatality rate based on the number of deaths from this specific disease, which is the COVID-19, over the number of confirmed cases.”

As a family-oriented country, it is no surprise that Filipinos are known to be great practitioners of filial piety. Prioritizing the health and wellness of their parents, or any older family member, younger Filipinos will do everything to make sure they return the love and care to the generation that raised them.
City of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Vice Mayor Maria Sheilah Lacuna-Pangan graced the official turnover of the newly improved Super Health Center in Tondo.
Unfortunately, for marginalized communities, much as they want the best care for their senior citizens, limited resources sometimes prevent them from access to the best geriatric care. This is why areas where health centers that can tend to all ages are very fortunate to have them given the sad fact that this isnât the case in most places around the country.

The facility, done in partnership between the City of Manila and SM Foundation, Inc., is fully equipped with amenities and medicine that can be used to address the various health concerns of residents.
A wellness center for the elderly, a playroom, a pharmacy, a breastfeeding area, specialty clinics, a frontliners’ lounge and pantry, physicians’ rooms, and midwives’ rooms are some of the areas seen in the health facility.

The Tondo Foreshore Health Centre and Lying-in Clinic was also opened to the public on Thursday.
In a taped message shown during the turnover ceremony, SM Foundation, Inc. Executive Director Connie Angeles said the new facility can help “decongest hospitals” of non-coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19)-related cases.
