Many gave their lives to a cause that paved the road so i could stand here today. I never imagined growing up in an Italian Catholic family and an environment where i did not feel comfortable being myself. One i wasnt sure of my path and that one day i would be recognized for my work, especially during pride month. San francisco is my home and will always be my home. I am excited to see where it goes. Month. I thank you for your service and your advocacy and i would like now to turn the floor over to an officer and the pride alliance. [applause] on behalf of the pride alliance, i would like to thank you for this recognition. It means the world to us. A little history on the pride alliance, it was created in 2001 when a group of courageous San FranciscoPolice Officers who identified as lgbtq establish an organization because they felt the department needed to change and that the relationships between the lgbtq officers and the department needed to be flourishing and needed to change for the better. I dont think those officers would have thought we would have had a rainbow s. U. V. Rolling around the streets of San Francisco or that Police Officers from the depart ....
Around housing justice and immigrant rights and i have had the good pleasure since i started working at st. Peters to work alongside angela chan that impact the community as a whole. Tenant rights, youth rights, especially undocumented immigrant rights. And i have seen nothing but the utmost dedication to get the job done, to do the work in the way that really brings communities together across racial divisions and lines and work, Service Providers and organizers. She has really been fantastic in her work in the Police Commission as well as the San Francisco immigrant Rights Committee as well as asian law caucus.
