Injured Herefordshire ex-serviceman takes on Land's End to John O'Groats challenge

A MILITARY veteran who suffered serious injuries to his arms and upper body after being shot multiple times in action is gearing up to put his strength and will to the test with a kayaking challenge.
Ben Gallagher from Herefordshire, who later suffered surgical injuries to both legs after undergoing extensive operations, is one of five injured ex-servicemen with life changing injuries who will be kayaking from Land’s End to John O’Groats in June.
The team are aiming to raise £100,000 for the Armed Forces Para-Snowsport team, a charity which supported them through their physical and emotional recoveries and allowed them all to meet. ....

Redditch veteran's Land's End to John O'Groats kayak challenge

A REDDITCH veteran with life-changing injuries is set to join four others on an epic adventure to become the first adaptive team in the world to kayak from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
The Kayak 4 Heroes team, which will include Carl Simmons from Redditch, will take on the 1,400-mile challenge beginning in mid-June, with the aim of raising £100,000 for the Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team (AFPST).
The charity provides snowboarding and skiing opportunities for Armed Forces personnel with physical and/or psychological conditions, to help with their physical and emotional recovery. The Kayak 4 Heroes team met when they were supported by AFPST, and decided to undertake a challenge to give something back to the charity which has transformed their lives. ....
