Luke Meidel of the Ohio State men’s volleyball team has been named a finalist for the Big Ten Medal of Honor. The award is given each year to the top female and male senior student-athlete on each Big Ten campus.
Meidel, from O’Fallon, Ill., was part of the Buckeye squad that reached the NCAA semifinals and won the MIVA Tournament in 2018. He played in more than 40 games in the Scarlet and Gray and was ranked in the Top 20 nationally in digs per set in 2020.
He received bachelor’s degrees in neuroscience and African American and African Studies this spring. He was part of OSU Peer Educators and worked as a peer mentor in the Honors College. Meidel earned Ohio State Scholar-Athlete, Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors, as well as MIVA Academic All-Conference accolades.
