Humankind showcases one player’s playful rewrite of the history of humanity. Responses by Arnaud Assouline and Benjamin Le-Breton, creative directors, BETC Background: SEGA and Amplitude asked us to launch Humankind, their newest strategy video game that will be released in April 2021. Usually, this kind of video game targets a niche group of gamers, but the studio wanted to reach a wider audience. This game is not as complicated as other games but not necessarily more simplistic, so the communication and trailer had to be in the image of the game: accessible but highly specialized. Reasoning: We focused our work on how we could faithfully transcribe the idea of the game, which is the possibility to rewrite the history of humanity however we want. We also had to show the multitude of scenarios that can result from it and the alternative branches of history it could lead to. We think the two-minute trailer answers these questions! ....
