Natick High proves to be too much for Plymouth South to handle Wicked Local PLYMOUTH – Just about everything would have had to break right if the Plymouth South wrestling team was going to knock off Natick High Thursday night in the Division 2 dual meet state championship. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. The Red Hawks are your Division 2 state champions after taking a 45-18 win over the Panthers under a single spotlight inside of a packed and sweltering hot Natick High Fieldhouse. The champions of the Div. 2 Central section, Natick finishes the season with a perfect record of 14-0. “We’d seen them against Whittier Tech (earlier this week) and we knew they were a stacked wrestling team,” Plymouth South Head Coach Marc Loranger said. “We did all we could and every one of my kids wrestled their hearts out, but Natick was just the better team. Fisher Division champions will wrestle Burlington for a spot in the state dual meet finals Wicked Local PLYMOUTH – The title banner for Plymouth South wrestling is quickly running out of space. After winning another Fisher Division title this season, they need to clear even more space in the trophy case for the program’s sixth Division 2 South Sectional championship. They had to work to get there, though, beating Duxbury Tuesday (54-22) and then North Attleborough on Thursday (39-31) to earn the team dual title. A part of Division 2’s Final Four, Plymouth South (17-1) with host Metro Champion Burlington (8-3) on either Monday or Tuesday for a spot in the state finals. On the other side of the bracket, the North (Whittier and Andover) and Central finalists (Natick and Milford) were wresting Thursday night to see who moves on in the playoffs. ....

That said, I’m really happy with where we are at with our numbers,” said Loranger, who has 42 kids on the roster when he usually has more than 70 grapplers in the program during a regular season. “We’re down, but we are in a very good spot because we are pretty spread out within the weight classes. We can go two or three deep in almost all of them.” ....
