Significant drops in new COVID cases as 9:30 p.m. curfew proceeds

There were significant drops in new COVID cases in some areas of the west end and West Island from May 4 to 10, in the first week of the reinstatement of the 9:30 p.m. curfew for the Montreal area and compared to the week before.
Montreal numbers in general declined to the below-200 range on some days since the curfew changed.
The curfews have shifted between 8 and 9:30 p.m. in recent months depending on case numbers and hospitalizations. The last 8 p.m. curfew was instituted April 11 and the 9:30 p.m. curfew returned May 3.
The most significant drops in new COVID cases, according to Santé Montréal statistics, took place in Côte des Neiges, from 134 to an especially low 103 cases; LaSalle, from 131 to 79; Dollard des Ormeaux, from 68 to 34; Pierrefonds-Roxboro, from 105 to 59; and St. Laurent, from 209 to 138, where there have been concerns not enough of the population has been vaccinated. Other areas have seen drops and some increases as well. ....

CSL, CDN-NDG cases remained low last week

Last week’s Santé Montréal COVID-19 statistics show that both Côte St. Luc and Côte des Neiges-NDG had a low amount of cases for the period from April 27 to May 3, part of an ongoing trend.
There were 28 new cases in CSL, the same as the week before. And numbers continue to drop in CDN-NDG, from 134 to 124.
Both areas were part of an emergency vaccination campaign in March for parents of students attending schools in the administrative areas of Côte St. Luc Nord and Plamondon, as well as teachers and day care staff. And for another week, both had sufficiently low cases not to be included on last week’s Santé Montréal list. ....

COVID case numbers plunge in Côte St. Luc, lower in other locales

The news was largely good last week for west end and West Island municipalities, with new cases of COVID-19 dropping in several locales, most significantly in Côte St. Luc, where numbers had jumped recently and then decreased.
From April 13 to 19, Côte St. Luc’s new case numbers decreased from 52 to 34. The week before, cases fell from 86 to 52.
Parents whose children attend a school in the Côte St. Luc Nord administrative region (which is most of Côte St. Luc), as well as teachers and daycare staff in those schools, took part in an emergency vaccination program last month. This past week, CSL Nord was not even on the list of administrative regions, indicating low case numbers. ....
