It’s been two weeks since Buck U recapped Spring TCU sports so we’ll dive headlong into women’s soccer which is the closest to concluding their season. Sadly, our ladies suffered their first loss of the season when visiting the Ags in College Station two Saturdays ago. They bounced back during their final regular-season game by beating Notre Dame 2-1 at the Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. The United Soccer Coaches poll places our ladies No.7 nationwide, and the RPI poll 11th. Monday’s selection for the national tournament showed tremendous respect for the Frog’s body of work, placing them as the 4th-seed slated to face the victor of a play-in match between New Mexico and The Naval Academy at the end of the month. I would never claim to be a bracketologist of women’s soccer but I’d assume it’s safe to infer our ladies will advance to a match with 13-seed Georgetown. We’ll keep tabs on our footb ....

I’m not confident whether I should applaud or chastise my online readers this week for wasting valuable kilowatt hours reading my ramblings. But, if you’re anything like me, you welcome the distraction as you time your rolling blackouts so you can boil potentially hazardous water. It was an eventful weekend for obscure sports in Frogland. Basketball, while not inherently obscure, is doing their best to cement their status as they fell to the Longhorns after a promising first quarter. Junior guard RJ Nembhard (#22) continued his streak of dominant purple scoring for the third consecutive game. The bad news is that the majority of his 15 points came in the first several minutes and then tapered off along with his team’s chances of hanging with the Horns. Fr ....

Results were mixed on respective courts this weekend for TCU. I’ve always been a bad-news-first person, so we’ll start there. The Big 12 v. SEC Challenge commenced between the two conferences, and the final results are essentially a wash. The “It Just Means More” conference beat the conference where “Every Game Matters” 5-4, while the Texas v. Kentucky game that could have leveled the record was canceled. The best victory from a conference compatriot was Oklahoma’s 66-61 win over the 9th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. The most embarrassing loss, thankfully, was not from our Frogs but No. 11 West Virginia losing by five to unranked Florida. ....

TCU men’s basketball broke their quarantine on Thursday against No. 15 Kansas after more than two weeks of cootie jail and three game postponements due to a COVID spread within the West Virginia and TCU programs. Coach Jamie Dixon announced via Twitter that he tested positive and was beginning to self-isolate. Despite how insensitive this may sound, it couldn’t have been a better time for the Frogs to retreat from the hardwood. Their last game in mid-January, against now-24th-ranked Oklahoma, was a microcosm of mediocrity against a team TCU almost never beats but is usually within one or two possessions of at the final buzzer. A three-game losing streak wasn’t the worst time to be forced to step back and reevaluate before dribbling into the latter half of their season. Dixon and company compe ....
