Nearly $2M TxDOT road improvement project continues around South Plains

Work on a $1.92 million Texas Department of Transportation project to restripe various roadways in the Lubbock District is under way.
Contractor Centerline Technologies, LLC, from Odessa, began work along FM 145 and FM 1731 in Parmer County earlier this month. Weather permitting, work will continue on roadways in Castro, Swisher and Floyd counties this week.
Drivers can expect Saturday work as two separate crews work their way across the district. Various locations along these roadways are included in the project:
Swisher County FM 2301, FM 3300, FM1424, FM 214, FM 146
Castro County FM 303, FM 1055, FM 145, FM 168, FM 194, FM 2397, FM 2392, FM 1075 ....

Area law enforcement agencies are joining efforts to continue enforcing safe driving in Lubbock.
Continuing Wednesday, the Lubbock Police Department and Texas Department of Public Safety will partner their enforcement actions to focus on speeding violations and the failure to move over or slow down when a stationary emergency vehicle, tow truck or TxDOT vehicle have lights activated on roadways.
The areas of focus will be on major thoroughfares, including the Marsha Sharp Freeway, Interstate 27 and Loop 289.
If there is a stationary authorized emergency vehicle, a tow truck, or TxDOT vehicle with their lights activated, or a different visual sign, Texas law states that a driver must either: ....

Covenant Children s launches new fundraiser
The Covenant Health Foundation will kick off a two-week community fundraising campaign, Champions for Children, benefitting Covenant Children’s and its care for kids on Wednesday. As the only licensed children’s hospital in West Texas, countless children and families have been impacted through the life-saving care received at Children’s.

Small World
A Polk County game warden was contacted by a woman on social media asking if he had any meat to donate for her family of six. The warden donated deer meat and after getting to know the family, learned the dad was a disabled veteran and hadn’t been hunting in over 10 years since before the military. The warden then reached out to local landowners and got a hunt donated for him and one of his children at Rocky Creek Ranch. The veteran took his eldest daughter of 13 on her first hunt and during the hunt, the warden found out his kids were from the same town the warden grew up in. Small world, great memories. ....
