Bladnoch Distillery Globally Launches 1st Fill Bourbon/1st Fill Sherry Cask Single Malt
The new release pays homage to the original founders of the distillery who paved the way, with “Vinaya” meaning respect and gratitude. Aged in 1st fill ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, a combination never before released by the 204-year-old distillery, Vinaya is non-chill filtered with its natural color and water sourced from the River Bladnoch which flows alongside the distillery.
By using 1st fill ex-bourbon barrels, there is what is said to be a highlight of floral notes in the drink, along with a citrusy sweetness, according to Master Distiller Dr. Nick Savage. Savage says the use of 1st fill ex-sherry casks adds a subtle rich body to the whisky, finishing with notes of chocolate. ....
