The tag implies that he’s a one trick pony, someone who’s forged their reputation on cheap stylistic tricks rather than lasting musical substance. Theatricality and historic controversy may be a telling part of his story but ‘Detroit Stories’ is a back-to-basics, aggressively guitar driven homage to ‘the birthplace of angry hard rock’ that proves Cooper’s career was, first and foremost, built on a bedrock of stellar songwriting. ....

The 15-track album is an homage to his hometown, the city in question. But listening to it, you get the sense that this is far more than simple nostalgia, wrapped up in Cooper’s signature tones. Tracks like Our Love Will Change The World and $1000 High Heel Shoes certainly perk up the ears with an audible departure from the signature Alice Cooper sound. But then the entire album listens like a road trip through the journey that informed his own musical makings in the city often credited as the birthplace of Motown. ....

In a short video filmed after receiving the jab, the shock-rock icon also revealed that he and his wife previously battled coronavirus – but stressed the importance of getting vaccinated against it. “We already had Covid but we’re getting vaccinated anyway,” Cooper says in the brief clip, per Advertisement “Everyone out here has been really nice and you don’t feel like you’re in danger of anything.
