Dorset Council launches 'Promise to Love Dorset' campaign

VISITORS are being asked to pledge their love to Dorset in a new campaign. Dorset Council has launched the Promise to Love Dorset campaign which asks visitors to value the county;s environment, coastline and residents as record levels of tourists are expected to visit while international travel remains uncertain. In response to behaviours of some visitors last year - namely anti-social behaviour, such as fires, littering, illegal camping and vehicles parked inconsiderately, the council has created five short videos with accompanying graphics in a bid to change visitors attitudes through positive reinforcement rather than shaming them. Councillor Noc Lacey-Clarke, Dorset Council s lead member for recovery, said: We ve working hard with our partners to make sure the tone of this campaign is appropriate for would-be visitors and has the desired outcome of changing behaviours.

Dorset Police admit summer visitor increase is 'inevitable'

Chief Superintendent Mark Callaghan DORSET Police have detailed the key areas they will be focusing on as the force steps up patrols to deal with a busy summer across the county. Anti-social behaviour, violent crime, road safety, domestic abuse, cyber-crime and sexual offences have been named as focused areas. A senior officer has said it is “inevitable” that visitors will be coming to Dorset in large numbers due to the expected ongoing international travel restrictions. Weekly meetings are taking place between Dorset Police, BCP Council, Dorset Council, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and health authorities to put plans in place to cope with an influx of visitors during half term next week and the peak summer months.
