Rynagh O'Grady was a star of stage and screen

The late Father Ted actress Rynagh O Grady will be remembered fondly in Rathdrum following her sudden passing at the Greenane home she shared with husband Eamon Murray on Sunday, February 7. Rynagh was best known for her work at the Abbey Theatre and as Mary in Father Ted . The Abbey Theatre described her as a beloved friend and colleague . Born in Dublin in 1954, she trained at the Abbey Theatre, and, after working with the Abbey Company for a year, left for London. She undertook a number of courses in England and Europe, including six months with Grotowski at his Theatre Laboratory in Poland.

Updated / Tuesday, 9 Feb 2021 18:43 Rynagh O Grady (Photo: Abbey Theatre/Twitter) The death has been announced of Irish actress Rynagh O Grady, who was best known for her work at the Abbey Theatre and as Mary in Father Ted. The Abbey Theatre described her as a beloved friend and colleague .  Rynagh O Grady trained in the Abbey School of Acting and first appeared on its stage in 1969. Her notable productions included Donal O Kelly s Mamie Sighs in 1990 and more recently Deirdre Kinahan s The Unmanageable Sisters.  A Love Divided and TV shows including Father Ted. We were deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of our beloved friend and colleague Rynagh O Grady. We are thinking of her family and all who loved her. pic.twitter.com/KGd9dONIGA
