Volunteers clean up Veterans Memorial Park in Houma

Kirk Griffin, owner of Griffin’s Louisiana Grille, provided volunteers with a free lunch, organizers said. 
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet, who served as a Marine for 22 years, commended the volunteers for their service. 
“Despite the rain they got it done,” the retired Marine said. “They took some equipment out there and took care of it. It was a combined effort. These guys are all veterans and were trying to do their part. We have lots of guys who serve in the Marine Corps League who served with some of those guys who lost their lives in Vietnam, so it’s really personal for them.”  ....
