Today's Food For Seniors Box Distribution Event Canceled


 box distribution event set for Friday, February 19 has been canceled.
Unfortunately, the ongoing winter weather conditions and travel difficulties have forced all pick-up sites to close. The Food for Seniors Program is made possible through partnership efforts from the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s Human Services Department, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Catholic Charities, and the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.
This initiative provides boxes for SWLA elderly that are filled with nutritious, non-perishable foods once a month. Under normal circumstances, volunteers distribute food boxes from 17 sites throughout Calcasieu Parish to seniors 60 years old and older who meet the federal income guidelines. ....
