March 17, 2021 A group of 15 scouts and four leaders from Scout Troop 95 in Georgetown loaded their gear early Feb. 5 on a Jor-Lin motor coach bus and headed north to Shawnee Mountain in Pennsylvania. Once there, lift tickets were handed out; rental skis, boots and helmets were picked up; and the skiers hit the slopes. New skiers headed to their afternoon lessons. Everyone wore their masks and socially distanced in the lodge and even in the lift lines. It was a beautiful weekend with great weather. Lots of fresh snow lay on top of the packed powder base. Everyone enjoyed skiing in great company. ....
January 14, 2021 Local Scout Troop 95 went camping Dec. 18-20 at Killens Pond State Park. Following Friday night setup, everyone enjoyed a snack. Saturday morning was a bit chilly at around 24 degrees but the scouts were up and cooking breakfast. First Class scouts worked on requirements while older scouts worked in the axe yard. In the afternoon, everyone stayed active playing Frisbee and football in the large activity field and then hung out around the campfire. At dinnertime there was a chili cook-off. Each patrol or group of scouts came up with its own recipe and prepared chili in a Dutch oven. Judges were Pat Hart, Rose Marie Hart, Tom Rathfon, Trevor Rathfon and Chelsie Rathfon. ....
January 7, 2021 During Troop 95’s November camping weekend, 12 scouts and four leaders enjoyed biking in Cape Henlopen State Park. The original activity scheduled for that weekend was hiking trails at both World’s End State Park and Rickett’s Glenn. Plans changed due to transportation issues, so the leaders decided to camp closer to home. Early Saturday morning, certain scouts made their patrol’s breakfast and other scouts prepared for the day. After breakfast was over and cleanup was complete, the scouts started biking on the Gordons Pond Trail. While a group picture was being taken, a distinguished-looking man with silver hair rode past the scouts. The leaders said it was President-elect Joe Biden, along with his Secret Service staff and his wife Jill Biden. The trail took the scouts into Rehoboth. One of the scouts had bike trouble, so while a couple of leaders helped with the repair, scouts and other leaders headed to the beach to enjoy the sa ....
