With the support of more than 300 donors, including local businesses, an anonymous benefactor, and significant grants, Nelson Nordic Ski Club has purchased a new snowcat to groom its cross-country ski trail systems at Apex, Busk, and Clearwater, just south of Nelson.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the tremendous community support for our campaign which we ran from late January to mid-February, we stopped on Valentine’s day,” said Frederick. ‘We raised over $30,000 from more than 300 donors and helping us manage what we see to be a community resource for years to come.” ....

With the support of more than 300 donors, including local businesses, an anonymous benefactor and significant grants, Nelson Nordic Ski Club has purchased a new snowcat to groom its cross-country ski trail systems at Apex, Busk and Clearwater, just south of Nelson.
The Club recently concluded its cheeky Love Your Club fundraising campaign, which brought in more than $30,000 in donations from local supporters attracted by the prospect of a long-term relationship with deep, luscious classic tracks and firm, rippling corduroy. ....

Holding a competition for young writers to send in their stories, with her book Bright Star, artist Louise Poole, of Hinstock
Louise Poole, who lives in Hinstock, near Market Drayton, was inspired to create her first children’s book, Bright Star, after a visiting Shropshire’s Carding Mill Valley and Long Mynd.
There she was treated to the wonderful sight of wild horses atop the hill and was inspired to write after her 12 year-old daughter asked: ‘When was the first wild pony tamed?’
Louise then came up with the idea for her book – a girl from Kazakhstan who tamed horses. ....
