Suspect identified in Piedmont Heights standoff

( File / Teri Cadeau / News Tribune) The 31-year-old Duluth man arrested Thursday night after a seven-hour standoff with police in a Piedmont Heights neighborhood house has been identified as Jesse Lee Fechner. Duluth s public information officer, Kate Van Daele, confirmed Friday that Fechner was the suspect. In March, Sixth District Court in Duluth issued three warrants for Fechner s arrest. According to court records, Fechner was convicted of first-degree DWI in 2018 and had violated his probation. He had also violated his conditions of release related to pending criminal sexual conduct cases.
